A collective Gift Card is a gift card that is applicable toward multiple retailers, often to promote them as a unified business district, commercial area, or “Main Street”.

The West Denver Marketplaces Gift Card is a collaborative effort to promote the range of multicultural small businesses and their communities across West Denver. From West Colfax to Florida Avenue and Sheridan to Santa Fe Drive, a diverse range of locally owned and operated businesses make up these vibrant communities.

The Gift Card can be used on-site at any of the participating storefront businesses ranging from restaurants and gift stores to auto shops and beauty salons.

West Denver is an area with a high concentration of culturally rich small businesses that represent the equally diverse communities that surround them. 83% of west Denver is at risk of gentrification, making the preservation of these cultural businesses critical to maintaining west Denver’s sense of place, preserving community resources, and preventing involuntary displacement.

The connection between community members and local businesses is strong. Purchasing a Gift Card fosters social cohesion and promotes economic opportunities for residents by helping them to stay in their original neighborhoods. A Gift Card also unlocks a new way for its lucky recipient to experience this part of town and all it has to offer. Win-win.

The West Denver Marketplaces Gift Card initiative is funded by a Neighborhood Activation grant from Denver Economic Opportunity and Development (DEDO). The Denver Housing Authority (DHA), in partnership with BuCu West and West Denver Renaissance Collaborative (WDRC), initiated the grant as a responsive solution to community needs in West Denver. District 3 Councilwoman Jaime Torres and Sun Valley Kitchen are also supportive stakeholders in the initiative.
