My older brother Fermín and I came to Colorado in 1988 from Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, Mexico which has one of the most beautiful ports and amazing characteristics. We were born in a small town called Las Guacamayas (Macaws) and my father told us that when he first arrived there, there were only four houses. In this beautiful place there are some birds called macaws that live here, and we believe this is where the name of the town comes from. My father left us as an inheritance of knowledge and his teachings of car painting, metal work, and repair of vehicles which has paid off.
At first, I worked for Rudy Garcia for four years, then I worked at another shop for two years, but I always stayed in the neighborhood. One day I was passing by the laundromat and noticed that this space where I currently have my business was empty and available. I went and talked to the owner and have now been here for thirty years. We initially opened as Michoacan Body shop and had that name for 15 years. Then we changed the name to Lupe’s Body Shop, but thank God we have been able to keep our doors open since 1996. We are well known in Westwood, and we also have many people who come visit us from Aurora.
To people who do not know us yet, I would like to invite them to our shop and give us the opportunity to serve and work with them. I would like them to know that our quality of work and attention to detail is very important to us. Something that differentiates us from others is that we offer free estimates, our paint job is very detailed, we work in a fast manner, and most importantly, we treat each client as our priority.
Llegamos mi hermano mayor Fermín y Yo en 1988 de uno de los Puertos más bonitos de México, Lázaro Cárdenas Michoacán, uno de los cuales tiene más futuro en el mundo, pocos tienen sus características; nacimos en un pueblito que se llama Las Guacamayas, mi padre nos contaba que cuando el llego ahí solo existían 4 casitas, en ese lugar hay unos pájaros preciosos que se llaman guacamayas. Mi padre nos dejó como herencia su oficio y enseñanzas de la hojalatería y pintura de autos, allá se enderezan las partes de los autos, no se tiran, se arreglan.
En esta ubicación del taller trabaje para Rudy Garcia, él fue mi patrón por cuatro años, luego me fui a otro taller a trabajar por dos años, pero seguía viviendo en el barrio y un dia que fui a la lavandería, pase por aquí y me di cuenta de que el lugar estaba vacío, hable con el dueño para que me rentara el taller, y desde entonces estamos en este lugar por casi treinta años.
Inicialmente lo abrimos como Michoacán Body shop hace como 15 años, y despues le cambiamos el nombre a Lupe’s Body Shop, y gracias a Dios hemos mantenido las puertas abiertas desde 1996, en este barrio de Westwood somos muy conocidos, también viene mucha gente de Aurora.
Hemos sido víctimas de vandalismo por la noche, cuatro veces en los últimos 2 años, hemos perdido un promedio de $ 20,000.00, necesitamos más luz, cámaras y seguridad.
Actualmente me siento muy deprimido, pues acaban de vender el local y no sabemos si el nuevo dueño nos vaya a dar un contrato de arrendamiento.
A la gente que no nos conoce quisiera que nos den la oportunidad de servirlos, que conozcan la calidad de trabajo y Acabado de pintura en cualquier auto que traigan, además tenemos estimados gratis. Hacemos la diferencia con otros lugares, porque somos muy rápidos y el detallado en el acabado del terminado de pintura es muy profesional.
